The time has come, and we could not be more excited. The American Numismatic Association’s National Money Show is here in Portland! Liberty Coin & Currency will be at the show as both a dealer and sponsor. Last week, we told you about all of the must-see items and events at the show. Now, we want to give you the lowdown on how to get the most out of your National Money Show experience.
Free Evaluations for the Public
On Saturday, as we told you last week, admission to the show is free! But admission isn’t the only thing that’s free. Bring in your coins and paper money on Saturday, and you can have a top numismatic expert evaluate them for free! So if you have any old coins or currency lying around, this is the perfect time to dust them off and bring them in for an evaluation.
Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee Meeting
For the serious numismatists, the National Money Show offers some priceless experiences. Aside from the all of the classes, and coins and currency on display, participants have a chance to impact coin and currency legislation. Starting at 9 a.m. on Friday, the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) is holding a forum that’s open to the public. At the forum, collectors will have the chance to offer the CCAC suggestions and input regarding future coin legislation. Don’t miss your chance to have your voice heard!
Bring the Whole Family
So you want to go to the National Money Show, but you don’t want to deal with getting a sitter? Or maybe you want to enjoy your precious few days off with the kiddos by your side. Either way, the National Money Show has you covered. Numismatics is a hobby kids are naturally drawn to, and on top of that, there’s an area just for them called Kids Zone. The ANA purposely made this a family-friendly event. So take full advantage of it, and get your kids’ eyes away from their screens and onto some coins for a change!
Transportation and Parking are Easy
No matter where you live, or are traveling from, getting to the Oregon Convention Center (OCC) is easy. All of the MAX lines, along with several bus routes and even the Portland Streetcar, run to the OCC. So, if you decide to park the car and take public transit, you’re all set. But if you want to drive, you’re in luck, too! The OCC’s parking facilities can hold nearly 1,000 vehicles, and the nearby Metro Garage and Liberty Centre also offer ample parking space. So, no matter how you get to the OCC, your trip is sure to be easy and stress-free.
